I started today's class with talking a bit of Chinese (Cantonese) to everyone. The idea is to get everyone not to understand me and make accusations and assumptions on what I was saying in my native tongue. That is exactly what the British Columbians did when another race arrived in Vancouver and forming their own groups isolated from the English society. They believed that the Chinese were plotting something, planning something, swearing or backtalking the English in their languages. Descrimination and Racism followed.

Then we watched the following video for 4 minutes.
I asked everyone after watching this video and the discussion of the two newspaper articles this question: Was Stephen Harper's decision to apologize and repay the Chinese families who suffered from the "head tax" a right or wrong decision to do? Why?
