Now that we understand how the election process takes place and why it's important to vote, we need to discover what each of the political parties stand for along something called the political spectrum.
We also need to understand how each political party aligns with our ideologies.
An ideology means a person's political beliefs/ or how a person thinks the world would work better.

The Political Spectrum
The political spectrum can be classified in two different ways.
First Classification Method:
There are 2 opposite sides in the political spectrum.
One side is called The Left Wing and the other side The Right Wing.

Picture an imaginary line that goes from left to right. The left and right most points contain the most extreme beliefs on either wing.

An important note: Most people are neither too far left or right in their politic views. They are general situated somewhere near the middle of the spectrum.

1) Communism
A man named Karl Marx in the late 1800's noticed a lot of extreme poverty in London, England. He believed that these problems he witnessed were political problems and that the government can handle it better to end all the bad things he saw.

2) Socialism
A milder form of communism. The major difference is: nobody needs to die first in order to recreate society. (Socialism does not believe in violent revolutions to change something.)

3) Liberalism

4) Conservatism
To "conserve" or "save".

5) Fascism
- --means dictatorship or one-man-rule
- --comes from the Latin word "fasces" which means a bundle of wooden rods tied around an axe (Symbol for brute power)
- --Examples of dictators: Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Josef Stalin, Chairman Mao, Kim Jung Il
- --Believes only 1 political party is allowed to exist
- --Has a strong army to do the government's dirty work
- --Has a secret police to keep the public afraid
- --Has no human rights, no freedoms, biased court systems, no democratic rights
- --steals people's money and stashes it away
- --pass laws without debate or votes--basically just laws made by the dictator
