Due to copyright issues, the students will need to come pick up another 2 handouts from me in order to complete their First Nations treaties worksheet.
The first YouTube video describes how First Nations Treaties are still being signed today. The conditions of the treaties that were signed in the past describes Canada's urgency to acquire land in the west and shows evidence of neglect for the First Nations population. I, then, elaborated more about the Chilcotin treaty signed by telling you a story about my trip to a First Nations reserve and showing you pictures of the school conditions there. To emphasize the attitudes towards First Nations peoples I've concluded the lesson with a video on European attitudes that depict the inferiority and discrimination of First Nations through cartoons like Bugs Bunny.
