- Have you read the assignment carefully and done what it said? For example is the assignment to draw an isometric view (pictorial) or orthographic views (multiview drawing).
2. If an orthographic drawing are the views lined up?
3. Have you centered the whole drawing on the page?
- The drawing or drawings in the case of an orthographic (multi-view) drawing should be approximately centered on the page with somewhat equal space to the borders on all sides.
- Centering is done by moving the entire drawing and estimating when it looks about even on the page – this does not need to be absolutely exact (but if you can’t guess-timate then measure the spaces from the object(s) including dimensions to the borders on all sides – they should be within about 5mm (1/8 inch) of each other.
- Check that all lines are on the correct layer and that the layers have the correct linetype assigned to them.
- Check that the Ltscale is correct before plotting. When in Layout view type in PSLTSCALE (paper space linetype scale) and set it to “1” to turn it on. Then type in LTSCALE and re-adjust if necessary to get the linetypes to show up.
- Check whether there are any short lines (such as center or hidden lines) that still do not show up. If so double click on them and in the Properties dialogue box re-adjust their individual linetype scale.
- Check that centerlines and hidden lines are properly drawn:
- Are your dimensions set to the same precision as the drawing (ex. The drawing below would be set to “0” not “0.00” precision)
- Do you have all of the dimensions?
- Is the 1st line of dimensions 10mm away from the object?
- Are the 2nd, 3rd, etc. dimensions 8mm away from the previous dimension?
- Are there gaps between the extension lines and the object?
- Are all the angles dimensioned?
- Are all holes and arcs dimensioned?
- Have you dimensioned 1st on the front view at the top and right side, then on the top view to the right side, lastly to other areas still not dimensioned?
