The U.N. Declaration of Human Rights
What are Human Rights?
--rights to which all humans are entitled to: such as the right to be treated with dignity and respect.
--human rights are based on morality--what we believe to be right and wrong--and they apply to all people.
What we need to understand: while basic rights have been deemed "universal", they are not necessarily legally sanctioned (protected by law) in all countries.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
This is the first international statement to recognize that "all" human beings have specific rights and freedoms.
This document was created by the United Nations back in 1948 and became one of its most important accomplishments through this body.
It is important to know that this document is a "STANDARD" and NOT a law.
This was the first time that nations had signed a formal agreement on specific rights and freedoms for all human beings, however, the guarantees outlined in this document remain unfulfilled for the majority of the people in the world.
